In April 2012 I was once again part of a talented team, flown out to Bahrain to entertain the crowds at the F1 track for 3 days. I was accompanied by 3 other caricaturists, several circus performers, including 4 stilt walkers, some balloon artists, Belgian ‘double dutch’ skipping team and a Michael Jackson lookalike. Oh yes and Superman and Captain America! It was a fantastic crew and five days was just enough to work, have fun and see the races, without growing too weary. The finale was awesome with the best Michael Jackson tribute on stage and Jumbo Jets flying down the track!
I flew to Dubai in November 2011, to spend two weeks entertaining crowds at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, with a team of very talented entertainers and artistes. The venue was huge and I loved drawing caricatures while walking around the theme park, drumming up crowds and performing to audiences, while Free-runners flew past, giving the place a real buzz!
In 2010 I flew out to Bahrain to entertain the public in a string of shopping malls. I was part of an entertainment team hired by Viva (STC) to helpo launch their new mobile phone network (33). The booking was originally for one month but after such great success, we were invited to stay a further month, during the run up to F1.
The crew consisted of skaters, dancers, magicians and caricaturists, all dressed in Viva company colours and working in shifts for 10 hours a day! It was one of the hardest gigs I’ve ever worked, but a great education on how to entertain a whole crowd who cannot speak English. I came back a changed man and looked forward to my next UAE visit.
